Chick-fil-A Doesn't Care If You Marry the Same Sex After All

Has much bigger issues than gay marriage
Chick-fil-A has decided to stick to what it knows, and that's making chicken sandwiches. The anti-gay-marriage food chain is reportedly taking back all the unkind things it has said about gay marriage.

The chicken-slinging CEOs now say Chick-fil-A is "re-evaluating the multimillion-dollar donations the company gives to anti-gay marriage activists."

According to news reports: "... In that process [the restaurant] will remain true to its stated philosophy of not supporting organizations with political agendas," Chick-fil-A's senior director of real estate said in a letter to Chicago lawmaker Joe Moreno.

This is a big deal because 1. That's a shitload of money anti-gay groups won't be getting; and 2. gays may soon be able to comfortably eat chicken sandwiches again.

Between 2008 and 2010, the WinShape Foundation, the nonprofit created by Chick-fil-A's head honcho, gave $3.2 million to groups that advocate against same-sex marriage, according to the group's tax reports. That included $2,000 to the Family Research Council, which was designated as a "hate group" by the Southern Poverty Law Center in 2010, and $2,500 to the Alliance Defense Fund, which supported California's Proposition 8 to outlaw gay marriage.

Earlier this summer Chick-fil-A president Dan Cathy gave plenty of people heartburn with his comments about how the fast-food chain really didn't believe in gay marriage, to put it nicely. After that, gays boycotted the restaurant, and Christians continued boycotting gays. In the end, gays stole the show when they appeared at Chick-fil-A restaurants across the country and smooched each other while heterosexuals snacked on their waffle fries. It was an unforgettable day for America.

No word on how Mike Huckabee is digesting this about-face.
