It's not news that publications are doing anything and everything to retain declining readership, but what
is news is how far the
Wall Street Journal has gone for those few extra clicks. According to
media outlets, the
WSJ is trying to lure its readers with something better than free news: free Internet.
The Journal will offer its very own Wi-Fi network throughout September in some 1,300 locations across New York City and San Francisco.
San Francisco's Washington Square, Nob Hill, and Fisherman's Wharf are some of the neighborhoods where you'll be able to fire up your laptop without having to buy a $4 cup of coffee at Starbucks.
It's really that simple: Sign up for a free Wall
Street Journal account. Those of you loyal news junkies who already have an account can just type in your existing user name and password and hop online.
Now if only the newspaper would offer a free cup of joe -- that'd really keep readers coming back.
