Slew of Weekend Accidents Kills Four
As we reported earlier, 28-year-old Mary Doering was killed in a car accident on Highway 280 on Friday night; traffic was blocked for at least an hour while investigators analyzed the scene. Then on Saturday, an unidentified man was killed by a BART train at Glen Park Station at about 2:30 p.m. A spokesman for BART says the train operator did not see the man, who was on the tracks for reasons as yet unknown. There were no witnesses to the accident, which is still under investigation.
Later that evening, a 38-year-old man was killed after a taxi driver ran a red light and collided into another car and the victim, who was walking in the crosswalk at Eddy and Larkin streets, said Officer Albie Esparza. The man, who has not been identified, was taken to San Francisco General Hospital, where he died.
Then at 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, a 38-year-old man was riding his motorcycle on the 100 block of Portola when he hit a median and fell into oncoming traffic. The victim, who has not been identified, is clinging to life with a major head injury, Esparza says.
The accidents continued last night when a 17-year-old driving a motorcycle near Thornton Avenue and Venus Street collided with an SUV. The teen and his passenger flew off the bike; the victim, who has been identified as John James, landed on a parked car and died, according to police. The passenger was taken to San Francisco General Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Be careful out there!
