Chevron officials say they are opening up a Help Center at the Nevin Community Center at 9 a.m. sharp.
"The claims process has been set up through Crawford and Company, and we intend to compensate our neighbors for medical and property expenses incurred as a result of the incident," Chevron said in a statement released today.
If you can't make it to the Help Center, live operators will be available 24 hours a day, seven days a week if you want to file a claim by phone. The number is 866-260-7881. And if you have already filed a claim by phone, you do not need to visit the Help Center.
Apparently, some residents claim they are getting phone calls from Chevron. To be clear, those are pranks; Chevron says it's "not proactively contacting anyone regarding filing claims. There are only two ways a claim can be filed -- by calling the above phone number or by visiting the help center located on Nevin Avenue."
Chevron adjusters are trying hard to respond to all claims within three days, and Chevron will strive to pay appropriate and reasonable claims, including out-of-pocket medical and property-damage expenses.
So go get your money -- you deserve it.
The Nevin Community Center is located at 598 Nevin Ave. in Richmond, and is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., and 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday.
