Facebook Campaign Asks Christian Bale, aka Batman, to Visit Hurt Kids in Aurora Shooting
The plea came from Facebook user Emily Sanchez, who wrote on her page, "They need to know that heroes can be real too, not just the bad guys." Since then, her request has gone viral, with a Change.org petition and Twitter users begging the actor to put on his dark knight costume and hop the next plane to Aurora, Colo.
And here's a nice sample of Twitter pleas:
"What a great idea. Christian Bale, are you listening?"
"It would be awesome if Christian Bale visited the victims of the Aurora shooting. I hope he does it."
"Be a hero, Christian! These victims are fighting for survival and [you are] the only one that can save them."
Bale, who is currently in Europe, hasn't said whether he will make a cameo in Colorado, but he did release this statement over the weekend:
"Words
cannot express the horror that I feel. I cannot begin to truly
understand the pain and grief of the victims and their loved ones, but
my heart goes out to them."
Meanwhile, the alleged gunman, 24-year-old James Holmes, is expected to appear in court today. The District Attorney there has made no decision about whether to pursue the death penalty.
