(Update 3:15 p.m.) Police said the device appeared to be of "military grade" so they contacted the Travis Airforce Base which is now investigating the suspicious device. But don't worry about this affecting your ride to the Giants game tonight. Police say traffic in the area has already cleared up after the cops shut down two city blocks earlier today.

(Original Story 12:58 p.m.) San Francisco police have evacuated two buildings and some houseboats on the waterfront in Mission Bay after a "suspicious device" was found earlier this morning.

Officer Carlos Manfredi says police were called to the scene about 10:46 a.m. on reports that the device was on the 200 block of Channel Street. Firefighters and the Bomb Squad are at the scene investigating as we type.

For now, traffic has been blocked at both the 100 and 200 block of Channel.

We'll tell you more when we know more. Check back for updates.
