Bay Bridge Reopened After Shooting
| Pretty ... pretty congested |
(Original story 7:34 a.m.): Drivers headed to the East Bay might want to hop on BART instead. The CHP has closed down all but one lane of the lower deck of the Bay Bridge while police investigate an early morning shooting.
The press is reporting that CHP officers were chasing a car across the lower deck this morning, when the driver stopped and shots were fired. However, it's not yet known who fired the shots and if anyone was hurt.
Traffic is backed up to the Interstate 80 and Highway 101 interchange. Officer Carlos Manfredi said San Francisco police are at the scene, along with homicide investigators.
Traffic is definitely problematic right now, and police say the lanes will not be reopened until at least 10:30 a.m.
We'll update you when as soon as we know more.
