Gays Plan to Occupy Pride

From what we read this morning, the LGBT community is pretty darn annoyed that so many corporations are sponsoring the annual gay pride parade this weekend, including the much-despised Wells Fargo. In fact, community members are so offended that they called on Occupy to help them OccuPride this weekend with a protest.
Tommi Avicolli Mecca, the main organizer of OccuPride, says that protesters have big plans to make noise this weekend; however, what they are planning he wouldn't reveal to the press.
What he did say is "we are going to be doing an action to remind folks that we are a movement, not a market."
"The foreclosure epidemic in S.F.... To have banks that are involved with that, sponsoring Pride, it is obvious they are trying to buy good will in the community," Avicolli Mecca noted.
Ah, but perhaps gays shouldn't be so quick to hate on the banks. Wells Fargo sent out a release, reminding them all that the big bank might not be housing-friendly, but they sure are gay-friendly.
Specifically, Wells Fargo said it
extends the same benefits to domestic partners of employees as it does
spouses.
In any event, OccuPride will start at 10 a.m. on Sunday. Bring things that will make this protest real -- instruments, chalk, signs.
