Yep, More Muni Delays This Morning

Yesterday wasn't a good day for Muni -- or anyone depending on it for a ride home.

After a weeklong closure, the N-Judah was back online yesterday morning, just long enough to break down due to a power outage.

By late afternoon -- in time for the evening commute -- another Muni fiasco struck downtown commuters when overhead wires fell, injuring three people and damaging nearby cars. Market Street at Fifth Street was closed for more than three hours while crews worked to repair the wires. The F line was out of service and traffic was rerouted for more than three hours. The (physically) injured people were treated and released with non life-threatening injuries, according to Muni.

Sadly, the morning commute hasn't been hassle-free.

According to Muni, outbound trains were delayed at the Castro Street station after a train car stalled early this morning. While that's been cleared, commuters can still expect "residual delays" along the T line due to another stalled train at Third Street and Yosemite.

Also, the N-Judah was running behind after another train car stalled at Carl and Cole streets.

Paul Rose, spokesman for Muni, just got off the train himself and says that aside from the delays this morning, all trains should be running on time today.

"That is the plan -- we are hoping for a smooth commute rest of the day," Rose said.

Aren't we all.
