iTriage, a mobile app that provides users with medical information, including symptom checklists, prescription information, and local doctors, has added a feature that gives users information on HIV specialists in their area.
The app company worked closely with the American Academy of HIV Medicine to compile an extensive directory of HIV specialists around the country.
"Those who live with HIV/AIDS struggle to find appropriate providers and we applaud the AAHIVM for strategically thinking about the ways in which information can be distributed to these individuals," said iTriage CEO and co-founder Peter Hudson.
The hope is that having this app and information literally at people's fingertips will help more people realized that there are nearby places they can go to seek treatment.
"Given that 50,000 new cases of HIV are identified each year, it is imperative that these patients quickly move into quality care," said James M. Friedman, executive director of AAHIVM. "iTriage will play a pivotal role in providing patients the information they need to best manage their condition."
