Cops to Hunt Down Wasted Drivers This Weekend
| Cops on the prowl |
On Saturday, police will hold a DUI checkpoint at Lombard and Divisadero streets, scanning cars and talking to driver to make sure they aren't hammered or stoned. And yes, driving after downing prescription medication counts.
The sobriety checkpoint starts at 8:30 p.m. and will last through the night. Here's some words of wisdom from Captain Denis O'Leary:
"Driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs isn't just a minor mistake, it's a serious, often violent crime," O'Leary says. "The good news is that it's completely preventable."
It's pretty simple: Don't be an idiot like this guy.
