Definitely suspicious
San Francisco police are warning drivers to avoid the area near Geneva and San Jose avenues, where a suspicious package was found on the sidewalk late this afternoon.

According to Sgt. Michael Andraychak, the bomb squad was called to the intersection at about 2:50 p.m., and is currently on the scene investigating the package. The following street closures are in place:

  • Geneva Avenue is closed from Louisburg to Delano
  • San Jose Avenue is closed from Niagara to Ocean
  • The Geneva Avenue on/off ramps to US-280 are closed
  • BART has limited access to Balboa Park BART Station: patrons must use the Ocean Avenue entrance/exit
  • Muni service on the J,K and M lines is impacted. The J and K lines are turning back at Ocean Avenue and are not using Balboa Park Muni Station. The M line is turning back at Niagara Street. Contact MTA for further details at 601-1637.

Please avoid the area, and check back for updates on the situation.

You dehumanize a man as much by returning him to nature - by making him one with rocks, vegetation, and animals - as by turning him into a machine. Both the natural and the mechanical are the opposite of that which is uniquely human.
