Some clubs offer a different kind of "entertainment"
San Francisco police are investigating a fight that broke out inside a Japantown nightclub early this morning, injuring three and putting the club's owner on the spot for possible code violations.

Sgt. Daryl Fong tells SF Weekly that police were called to the club, located on the 1700 block of Post Street, just before 1 a.m. on reports of 10 people fighting. When police arrived, they talked to three victims who claimed they had been assaulted in the fight, possibly with beer bottles, but they would not give police any more details about what happened.

The first victim, a 26-year-old Asian male, suffered a laceration to his forehead; the other two victims, a 29-year-old Asian female and another unidentified man, had contusions to their faces, Fong said.

All three victims were treated at San Francisco General Hospital, and no suspects were named.

During the investigation, the barkeep got into a little trouble himself. Police said he couldn't provide proof that he had an entertainment permit, not was he properly carding patrons to ensure they were of legal age. Police cited the owner, who is expected to appear in court within the next three weeks, Fong said.

Meanwhile, police have sent this case onto the city's Entertainment Commission, which will determine whether the club was in the wrong.
