University officials said they have established the Oikos University Victims Foundation, a memorial fund to help the families of the seven people who were killed in the April 2 shooting spree.

University officials made the announcement today during a morning memorial service, which was held at the university's campus in East Oakland. Jongin Kim, president of the university spoke at the service, offering his condolences to the victims' families.

"We pray that God may comfort the families and friends of the victims, and the souls of those seven individuals who lost their lives. It is difficult to find the right words to console the families going through this indescribable tragedy," he said. "The administration and staff of Oikos Community wish to extend our heartfelt condolences to all of those affected by this terrible event."

On April 2, 43-year-old One Goh allegedly showed up to school and asked to see a specific administrator. When he learned she was not there, he took the secretary hostage and lined students up, firing at them as they begged for their lives. Police say the suspect was a disgruntled nursing student who had recently been expelled from classes, possibly for anger management issues.

In all, seven people were killed and many others were wounded.

To make a donation to the victims' foundation go to the university's website. Online contributions will be possible through a routing number and account number for the fund.
