Incensed Driver Sets DMV Employee's Car on Fire

Apparently, the Department of Motor Vehicles pushed one Daly City man completely over the edge Monday morning when employees refused to give him his car. According to the San Francisco Examiner, 64-year-old Hugo Carranza allegedly went to the employee parking lot, torched an employee's vehicle, and fled the scene. He later turned himself in, and pleaded not guilty yesterday to arson and vandalism.
Now here's where some of you might muster sympathy for Carranza. It seems he became enraged after trying to get the DMV to release him his car, which had been impounded last October for expired registration. Although he had paid some of his fines, he still owed the state money, San Mateo County Chief Deputy District Attorney Karen Guidotti told the Ex.
Shortly after 10 a.m. on Monday, Carranza allegedly went to the DMV employee parking lot, picked out a random car, doused its tires with accelerant, and lit it on fire, Guidotti said. The fire also damaged a second car, according to authorities.
So now on top of his unpaid car fines, Carranza has a bail of $100,000.
The DMV will get you every time.
