Man Critically Beaten as He Showers at Home
Police say 22-year-old De Angelo Winston broke into the victim's home on the 1100 block of Ingerson Avenue just before 8:30 a.m., where he rudely interrupted the man and attempted to rob him while he was in the shower.
According to Officer Albie Esparza, Winston allegedly swung a metal bar at the naked man, hitting him several times before running out of the house.
The bleeding man called the cops, and responding officers saw a person matching the suspect's description milling around the area. Winston spotted the cops and ran, police said. As the officers caught up to him on the 1100 block of Fitzgerald Avenue, he tossed the metal bar over a fence, according to Esparza.
Winston resisted arrest, injuring two officers as they attempted to take him into custody. The metal bar was later recovered as evidence.
The victim identified the suspect before he was taken to San Francisco General Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Police booked Winston into San Francisco County Jail and charged him with attempted homicide, burglary, attempted robbery, possession of a burglary tool, and resisting arrest.
