Teamsters Claim Coors Beer Has No Taste

In their defense, Coors' target demographic is frat houses
Local labor groups are disgusted by Coors, and not just because the watered-down adult beverage literally has no taste. The company that brews the beer enjoyed by many low-budget drinkers in the Bay Area has "tasteless anti-gay views" and labor practices.

According to teamsters from local unions 150, 439, 853, and 856, Coors Brewing Co. has proven its political views don't gel with San Francisco. The teamsters showed up at the Giants game today, where, incidentally, plenty of Coors are consumed, and distributed leaflets, reading "Tell Coors Hating San Francisco Is Tasteless."

They also flew a banner of the park that read: "Coors Hates San Francisco."

"Coors has a long history of funding anti-gay rights and anti-immigrant organizations and politicians," said Jim Tobin, President of Local 150. "Coors also funds groups that are anti-worker and promote laws that would suppress minority voting."

The teamsters also accuse DBI Beverage Inc., Coors' distributor in Northern California, of worker abuse and anti-immigrant policies.

"The workers that distribute Coors products throughout Northern California are appealing to San Franciscans today," said Sam Rosas, Secretary-Treasurer of Local 439 in Stockton. "We want our neighbors to know that in this devastated economy, DBI wants to destroy good jobs. All these loyal workers want is a contract that respects the work they do."

We contacted DBI to get their side of the story. We'll let you know what officials have to say about this brouhaha.

Look who's talking, teamster organizers are the source of the anti.  The way this works for the pathatic organizers if you can't convince by information/education then they sling garbage.  This campaign hurts the workers that work for Coor and the company that employes them (an American Company) I''m on my way to buy a case of Coors and you should do the same.  Support our workers and stop the dirty games the teamster organizers play.

Coors (not entirely American) is owned by MolsonCoors, making it 50% Canadian. On top of that, MolsonCoors has a joint venture with SABMiller (SAB = South African Brewers) for operations in the US and Puerto Rico. Buy beer brewed in Northern CA and we can all forget about that Coors crap.

Mr Aboudi made a compelling argument against labor, and for American companies, until I looked at his clearly anti-union, agenda based home page. It was then that he lost all credibility. At the wages he supports for the working class, those folks would be hard pressed to afford Coors, or any other beer, for that matter.

Good for them. I'm always in favor of a Coors boycott -- if I'm not mistaken, you can get it at numerous Castro bars today, despite decades of the companies anti-gay contributions.
