Tenderloin Deli Can Sell Sandwiches But Not Crack
| The #2 includes turkey, mayo, and crack |
The Examiner delivered the news (good for sober people, bad for drug dealers) that Barah's Deli & Grocery at 200 Leavenworth St. must clean up its act -- meaning no more letting drug dealers sell crack, heroin, and prescription pills at the sandwich shop. The deli must also close by midnight, and employ a security guard as well as surveillance cameras from now on.
Police Chief Greg Suhr claims the PD gets way more than your average amount of complaints about this shady business, and explains to the Ex that this sandwich shop has become a safe haven for drug peddlers.
Of course, the market doesn't agree with these accusations, and is now worried about retaliation from these very dealers who they claim aren't selling drugs in their shop.
"We deny that our client's in the business of selling drugs," Dan Siegel, attorney for Barah's Market, told the Ex. "I don't think that small business-people who have a comparatively marginal existence as a business ... should bear the brunt of the city's efforts."
