Sierra Lamar: Sex Offenders Questioned in Case of Missing Teen, Vigil Held

Lamar was last seen headed to school on Friday morning. However, school officials called her mom later that day to report she had never made it to class. Police say they have no reason yet to suspect foul play, but they have even less reason to believe she left on her own; she has a happy home life and good friends, police told reporters.
But with no cracks in the case, investigators from the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Sexual Assault Felony Enforcement Task Force told reporters they have started contacting local registered sex offenders to determine exactly where they were at the time of Sierra's disappearance.
Police have also questioned Lamar's father, Steve Lamar, who is a registered sex offender himself; he was convicted of lewd acts with a child. However, police have ruled him out as a suspect in the case.
"He is not a person of interest in Sierra's disappearance and has been fully cooperative since the beginning of the investigation," authorities said in a statement.
The cops have been poring through Lamar's cellphone records after finding her phone on a sidewalk by her Morgan Hill home; the phone appeared to have been "tossed from a vehicle," but was still intact.Meanwhile, Lamar's friends and family held a vigil last night for the girl, who is described as 5 feet 2 inches tall, with a thin build. Lamar was last seen carrying a Juicy brand black-and-pink purse. They have plastered the neighborhood with her photo, and continue to distribute flyers through the community.
