Rick Santorum Probably Didn't Mean to Almost Say That Racial Slur

Categories: Politics
If Rick Santorum ever became the leader of the free world, we would be the very first to move to Canada. Hell, it's a tempting enough just watching him run for president. And although we have learned that Santorum is definitely thick-headed enough to think that aspirin is the panacea for birth control, we're not sure that the sweater-vest-wearing Republican is dumb enough to actually call America's first black president that epithet that white people aren't allowed to say.

But during this speech at  Janesville, Wisc., it appears that Sanrotum almost said the n-word when talking about President Barack Obama:  "We know the candidate Barack Obama, what he was like -- the anti-war government nig ..."

Hear the slip-up for yourself (34:30)

After watching it a few times, we decided that Santorum perhaps stumbled over the word "government," then got worried he actually said the n-word, which then made it look like he almost said it.

Brain fart or not, the slip-ups are starting to show a pattern. Remember when he stumbled over his vowels and consonants in Iowa while discussing conservative opposition to welfare programs:

"I don't want to make black people's lives better by giving them somebody else's money; I want to give them the opportunity to go out and earn the money."

He later insisted that he had not said "black", but instead said "blah," as he confused himself with his own train of thought.

Will Santorum supporters out there please explain to us what "blah" people are?

Canada is not going to take you, and besides you probably would not like the cold weather, high taxes, and the Socialist government.

too bad there's no footage circulating of the audience's reaction to his "nig" slip.  that would be great to see.

that was awesome.  he almost had a seizure but he displayed an amazing ability to slam on the brakes.  he kept it rolling and didn't look back.  there shoulda been someone there with a bell to ring like in the movie "Blazing Saddles".

What's really sad to me is that people who are likely to vote for Rick probably don't care if he said it or not.  Yes, almost 1/3 of our country is still pretty damn racist.  Sigh.

This is what "Blah" people are: blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. Oh yes, and blah, blah, blah blah, blah.

Oooops...he could have meant "nincompoop" of course...then thought it was a dumb word for an adult man to use to describe the president in a speech and stopped half track. Maybe he uses that word with his kids to describe disagreeing with the president kindly. I don't see many other alternative possibilities being posted online.

From the beginning, Santorum has been spouting unchristian thoughts, words and ideas; as a Christian I find it offensive and I know it is not WJWD.

It's interesting that mainstream media isn't paying much attention to this one. So much for liberal media bias controlling our minds.

From a NAACP perspective I can see a tie-in with Trayvon Martin and the political/legal establishment here though. And maybe they'll be right.

Considering the context of the speech I just listen to in it's entirety on my HiFi headphones, wherein the speaker evokes ideas of a racist, divided American and continues on to demonize the current President as responsible for such thinking, I cannot find a way to interpret his tripping over the "nig" as anything but a lack of his mouth voicing what his mind was thinking in  it's entirely. In effect Santorum did call Obama an "Anti-war, anti-government Nigger". Not that this is needed ammo for Romney or Democrats. He wasn't going to get the nomination before this anyway. For me it's simply nice to know where he stands on race.

Good thing we have the SF Thought Police here.  They can punish you before you even make a mistake!

They'll never tell you that Obama used the word "N*****" fourteen times during "Dreams of my father" or that Jesse Jackson used the word to describe Obama.

Hm. So he thought he accidentally said the word, which made him sound like he said it? I see. Wait. No I don't.

he has a history of saying things then saying he didn't say them. typical of any goofball politician - appeal to the base with extreme comments, then when confronted, deny deny deny. lefties do this too.

Yeah all those lefties out there race baiting and threatening to go to war with Iran then denying it later on. Right. If nothing else, I certainly hope this clown show of a Republican primary will put the lie to this tired ass both sides do it false equivalence.

Meatsack

Your saying that the left does not race bait?

Just off the top of my head look up Loretta Sanchez

"The Vietnamese and the Republicans are, with an intensity, trying to take this seat from which we have done so much for our community — to take this seat and give it to this Van Tran, who is very anti-immigrant and very anti-Hispanic,” Sanchez said in an interview with Univision, according to a translation by The Orange County Register"

You pretty much have George Wallace their complaining.

ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha

Equating illegal immigration with immigration.

So funny, the force is strong with you.

First off, on behalf of like 99.9 percent of Americans (who don't listen to right wing talk radio), may I ask: "Loretta Who?" But-as someone who unfortunately follows politics enough to know the answer to that question-let me say this is another false equivalence. Mr. Tran was a vocal supporter of Arizona's immigration law. Something tells me you wouldn't characterize that as anti-immigrant or anti-Hispanic. But your average immigrant and Hispanic sure as hell would.

as always, the right wingers miss the point, which is that people who belive their own bullshit, be they right or left, say stupid shit.

that means both sides have idiots on their side, and they have people on their side NOT idiots . How many lefties come up with crazy ass theories and shit? A LOT! DUH!

In your case you have to bash the left so much you can't allow for the fact that occasionally you have a few ass hats on your side. As do Democrats and lefties.

I could give a shit. I think both sides are stupid and so enamored of their own voices they don't care about the good things they could do for the people , or the Constitution. So suck on that, douche. You're just as bad as the rabid lefties I can't stand either.

again, you lose! try getting into a reading class , maybe you could understand comments better on the internet in your mom basement.

Honestly i'm not a jerk but I can miscontrue shit. Unlike the dickheads on the Internet I don't lose mahood for making a mistake.  And I will be free of fucking, ass or not as I plan on watching FRINGE tonight. Frak YeaH!

I applaud your human-ness. And I hope you have a fine Friday evening, free of ass-fucking (non-consensual anyway).

well then! may I offer this? I guess I am as clueless as I think I am. I'm going to do something on the Interwho that no one does and say "Oops."

Suck on that all you like and enjoy! I'm actually being a human! Which I'm sure you will fuck me in the ass with with that Series of Tubes. enjoy!

So, wait, let me see if I understand correctly: you take from my comment that I am a right-winger? And then you tell me that I need a reading class to "understand comments better on the internet."

You're O-for-2 there, homie. I think the internet is giving classes on irony these days. May I suggest you enroll?

Allow me to translate my initial comment: Rick Santorum's blatant and inexcusable race-baiting does not have an equivalent on the left, IMHO. And people who say that "both sides do it" all the time are tired and full of it.

Thank you!
