I'm disgusted, with there relationship, I feel sorry for, Hooker's kids. His wife should change her last name, besides (Hooker). Feels like, Hooker, had poisoned, Powers. Jordan Power's should have listen to her mother. Now she has no friends and lost everything. If she want's a relationship, find someone in your own age. Hooker, should be in jail for life. Jordan Powers, will regret this later, she doesn't think about her future.

Update, he has been arrested for doing the same thing with a minor years ago! What you have to say about it now, all of your James Hooker supporters?! She is 18, and that's all that counts. How the rest of us feel might make for great discussion, but it's not about us. As for Mom, she needs to accept that Jordan is an adult and that her role as controlling mother has ended - it is no longer welcome.  Right or wrong, Mom needs be supportive of her daughter, or risk losing her. Acceptance is the best solution. 

He used the fact that her father died to console her and take advantage of the fact that she needed a male figure in her life, while she was still young.  He has manipulated that girl and made her think that he is the only one that can care for her.  Best of luck to her mother trying to convince her daughter that he's a scumbag.  Adults at 18 are still kids, that's why the word "teen" is still in their age.  Kids think they know everything and the parents are wrong, but I hope this girl comes around and sees it sooner, rather than later.  This jerk-off needs an ass-kickin' and some therapy.

You are sad. You and all the other boy/men who post here never mention the wife and children he dumped for this relationship. They are being damaged the most. This young woman is not thinking straight, and will get what she gets, but his family had no choice.When he is in his eighties and she is in her forties, wiping his old ass, she will reap what she sowed. His children will still know that he did not love them enough to be a decent father and role model. I feel sorry for any children this girl has with him, because he has already proven how much the role of father means to him. To see how the man you have a relationship with will treat you, see how he treated the woman he left you for. Never a great idea!

I don't understand how in a work enviroment, dealing with two grown adults, you can't engage in any relationship where one person has more power over the other, but this situation is ok?.... just because she's 18?  He is in a position of power as a teacher at the school, let alone the fact that he was her teacher; and he abused that power by engaging in a relationship with a student!

This girl broke up a marriage and a family.  She has NO CLUE about life yet.  Just wait until they get married and she has kids with this pig, then he moves on to someone else.  Will she still be thinking it was a good decision and that he loved her?  I can't believe anyone out there would think that is okay.  Whether they "claim" to love each other or not, there is a family suffering because of this self-serving, controlling scumbag.  What a manipulating a-hole he is.  He preyed on the girl since she was 14 years old.  He is a pig and I hope he gets what's coming to him...

Oh, I also wanted to point out that there are some people with big age differences that can make a relationship work, but when you have an 18 year old (I know Legal) who's not mature enough and a 40 + man starting a relationship, then it's a problem.

 Dating an older man isn't the issue here it's the fact that it was her teacher that is a problem.  He had almost 4 years to manipulate her into this relationship as a teacher and mentor to students.  I do think it's weird to date someone 23 years older but to each there own there.  Again I have a problem that he used his authority as a teacher to entice this relationship.

I know someday Jordan will regret her decision to play housewife with this creepy man who has no morals it seems.  It's to bad she got lost in his manipulative ways.   Even though she is legally and adult, she's not mature enough to handle adult life yet.  She needs to be with her mother who can guide her in the right way.  I really hope Jordan (after being on the Dr. Phil show) can see the light that she is not getting her adult life to a good and healthy start.  Jordan should only be thinking of a few things right now. That's finishing high school, (not on-line school) applying to colleges, and having fun with her friends, and living a normal teenage life.  Adult life will be coming soon enough, and she needs to be ready for that in the right way, not encouraged by a 40 + year old man who should know better.

I loved it when I heard Jordan's mother tell James hooker that she'll never be okay with James being with her daughter in a UN-appropriate way.  

I really feel bad for all people involved that got hurt by Jame's scheme.  Too bad Jordan doesn't have the maturity to understand that she is in the middle of a marital breakup, even when it's pointed out to her that this is so not good for her, that she still smurks and ignores what mature people are saying.  Right now Jordan is unable to feel empathy towards Jame's wife and family, and even her mother.  Her mother's spirit is crushed.  I hope Jordan can quickly recognize that the MAJORITY of the people commenting on her situation IS RIGHT. PERIOD.

I to was 41 when i married an 18yr. old in Dec.1992 .It will soon be 20 yrs. we have a 16 yr old daughter together.My daughter watched the Dr. Phil show and was disturbed by some of the things said about James.With the chance of failure so high I'ts to bad someone could'nt offer them hope and encouragement.I think they are a beautiful couple,I wish the best for them.ReplyDelete

I think James Hooker is a manipulative Piece of Shit, I really hope this comes around to bite him in the ass. Because if that were my daughter he would be afraid for his life every day wondering when I am coming. and to all of you people defending him and defending this screwed up society, Joseph Stalin states "America is like a healthy body and its resistance is threefold: its patriotism, Its Morality and its spiritual life. Number one.....he's a teacher, she's a studentNumber two......he's marriedNumber three...he has three children.

These are the three reasons that as soon as he even felt an inkling of any attraction he should have had the forethought and the common sense to request a transfer, or anything at all that would have kept him away from her. That would have at least shown that he had some consideration for her - the student.  He put his selfish feelings of 'lust' before everything else.

When they came on the Dr. Phil show I at least expected to see some hunk of a guy.  Heck...he's not even attractive!  I guess the girl must really think she's in love! As for the age difference, well that is a minor factor when you consider the seriousness of the other factors.   That happens all the time and always well.  Have you heard that Dick VanDyke (84) just married a lady of 40.

She'll go to college and realize there are way better choices out there.

Wow people.  This decision is theirs to make.  They are both of age and can decide for themselves.  I believe that he was being honest about not touching her until she turned 18.  Since, you know, it's illegal and they came out on their own.  Doesn't matter how you feel, I hope whatever decision they make, she is happy.  Isn't that what counts?  With that being said, if that was my daughter, who is 18, I would be BESIDE myself with worry, but I wouldn't interfere if there were no legalities.

ok.  Time to get serious here.  The teacher/student dynamic makes this situation unethical, irregardless of whether they are still officially in those roles.  The age thing is definately problamatic and anyone who thinks they wouldn't feel the same as the mother if put in the exact same situation is deluding themselves.  Any of the male posters would probably try to beat the snot out of this guy and if they couldn't do it on their own would more than likely enlist the help of some friends.  That said, there does not seem to be any legal recourse soooooooo,You all pack down there don't you?

Let's face it. Unless a sex video surfaces that conclusively proves sex occurred prior to Powers' 18th birthday, all the police investigations and maternal forum-poundings will be an exercise in futility. Further, because Hooker left his job voluntarily, his teaching record is unblemished - allowing him to seek work elsewhere. And his former employer will be smart enough to avoid any kind of innuendo about him lest they find themselves in court facing a slander and/or libel charge.

But, having said all that, consider this.

Ms. Powers is in the driver's seat now and Hooker knows it. He'd better treat her "right" because, if he doesn't, he's got BIG problems. All it would take is for Powers to run sobbing to a police station, saying Hooker seduced her when she was still a minor, and WHAM - off to the hoosegow he goes. Powers, on the other hand, could make a lot of money on the talk-show circuit and more by agreeing to a "book deal" where she discusses her "ordeal."

The only "for certain" victim in this matter is his ex-wife and kids. And frankly, I hope she takes Hooker to the cleaners in a California divorce court. 

I don't think this relationship is ethical or a good idea because she was recently his student. Also, given their age difference and her young age when they started, the teacher's flirting was inappropriate.

Its very common for young girls to be drawn to older men.  They represent power, stability and protection.  It's also very common for older men to be attracted to young girls.  They represent fertility, fun and new taint.  Biology is not pretty and people get bruised.  But for Mr Hooker and his new squeeze, Mazeltov!

I think in the same state of California where same sex laws are recognized and gay and lesbians as well as transsexual and transgendered adults are allowed to have different types of consenting relationships, NO ONE should be judging the actions of one man and his younger girlfriend who just happens to be an adult now , thank you very much. Next thing you know, polygamy and beastiality will be allowed too :) Someday, human beings will be allowed to mate and have children with SPACE ALIENS FROM ANOTHER WORLD. So we can all thank the gays and lesbians for starting all this cultural-social-moral upheaval ok??? This is not the first 18 year old that has been poursued at Enochs - it is not the first student -teacher affair at this school.  Mr. C. is derilict in his duties as principal.  It has been brought to his attention before as have the behaviors that should not take place in a classroom.  He does nothing.  He sits in his office all day calculating his test scores.

This is not the only pervert at Enochs. Nor is this the first 18 year old that has been pursued at Enochs. There are more that have been pursued and have had sex with their teachers.  It is ugly....Mr. C. is derilect in his duties. It has been reported to him and he has done nothing. The police have done nothing because the students are 18.  Most students don't know C. is the principal because he stays in his office all of the time counting test scores.  He never walks around....the custodian has even caught students having sex in the halls after school......but who cares as long as it can be covered up by test scores

How can anyone say this sort of thing is wrong, when homosexuals are being married and society is expected to embrace new ideas about relationships? We just need to "open our minds" and turn a blind eye. Whatever makes people "happy". After all, they are grown, consenting adults. I hope her mother is a democrat who supports gay marriage. She is now getting a nice practical dose of her own ideological medicine. Thanks liberals! Nothing is off limits now!  

When he has to pay alimony and child support, I doubt the lifestyle will be so appealing. Doubt that Jordan will contribute monetarily, no college education. Just seeing the reality of it. Not to mention that he will always be 22 years older than her. That's also a fact. Just lust, but that doesn't really last long term.

18 is the legal age of consent for a reason.  If you don't think that 18 should be the legal age of consent, then call your Congressperson and lobby for a change in the law.  But as it stands, someone who is 18 years old can choose who they engage in a sexual relationship with, whether they be 18 or 99.  The law is the law.
