Giants' New Aircraft, Sandbox, and Beer Kiosk Won't Replace Matt Cain

​Giants fans are getting the Opening Day jitters, as they prepare to watch their favorite World Series team take on the Pittsburgh Pirates in San Francisco on April 13. And this year, fans have more than the return of a healthy Buster Posey to look forward to.

San Francisco's "fear the beard" movement will ascend to 35,000 feet when the world's first bearded aircraft takes flight on April 2. Virgin America's newest member of its fleet is an A320 aircraft named "Fly Bye Baby," with a Giants logo painted along the side. Hopefully this aircraft will service cheap flights to games -- Giants fans deserve that.

If an airplane wasn't enough to indulge your team spirit, Giants fans are getting plenty of more treats. Along with the plethora of bobble-headed players, the Giants franchise is giving away Brian Wilson and Pablo Sandoval garden gnomes to the first 25,000 fans on May 20 and September 22. The Giants superhero cape giveaway also sounds especially awesome for those windy days biking to work.

​There's a long list of improvements the Giants have made to the stadium, including spacious hallways along the promenade, airplane-like escalators, and a killer Anchor Steam Brewery kiosk behind the bleacher seats. The franchise also installed a "beach club" sponsored by Corona. Private parties up to 30 can book the sandbox next to the visitors' bullpen and kick off their shoes to watch the game. But these capital improvements are not exactly the kind of investments fans have been hoping for.

Giants fans want to see wins from that sandbox along the first base line. So now for the question you are all wondering: When will pitcher Matt Cain's contract be signed? We've read reports claiming that Giants CEO Larry Baer says it's only a matter of time until a deal is sealed with Cain, but fans fear another team might snatch their beloved, longtime Giants pitcher. But who could blame Cain for negotiating his contract after Tim Lincecum was signed for $4.5 million?

The San Francisco Giants have won 10,522 games -- the most wins in the history of Major League Baseball. This year, we need our World Series winners, which is why the team's priority should be to retain Matt Cain. But we're pretty excited about the new Anchor Steam kiosk, too.
