Andrew Breitbart
The prolific conservative media critic Andrew Breitbart died early this morning at a Los Angeles hospital. He was 43.

He was walking near his home in Brentwood last night when he reportedly collapsed. Someone saw him fall and called 911, and paramedics attempted to revive him.

The official announcement was made on his website, bigjournalism.com:

"With a terrible feeling of pain and loss we announce the passing of Andrew Breitbart. Andrew passed away unexpectedly from natural causes shortly after midnight this morning in Los Angeles. We have lost a husband, a father, a son, a brother, a dear friend, a patriot and a happy warrior. Andrew lived boldly, so that we more timid souls would dare to live freely and fully, and fight for the fragile liberty he showed us how to love." Breitbart, who once worked for the Drudge Report before leaving to start his own outlets -- including Big Government, Big Hollywood and Breitbart.tv. -- was adored among conservatives circles, and a star of the tea party movement.

But perhaps he is best known for his efforts that led to controversial investigations which ended in the resignations of former Rep. Anthony Weiner and former Agriculture Department official Shirley Sherrod.

Breitbart lived in Los Angeles with his wife and four children.
