San Francisco Cops Release "It Gets Better" Video for LGBT Youth
Following in the footsteps of the San Francisco Giants, the SFPD became the first police department across the nation to release its own "It Gets Better" video, in hopes to help put an end to LGBT bullying.
The 8:28 video features LGBT officers, sergeants, and commanders in the San Francisco Police Department sharing heartfelt snippets of their own experiences trying to navigate the world while being "different."
The point is to encourage LGBT who are struggling with their sexual identity or are being bullied. SFPD explains to these kids that they are not alone.
"I hope this message of encouragement will give hope to anyone who might be bullied because of who they are. The members of the SFPD will continue to work with all young people and reach out to the communities, as mentors and role models," said Police Chief Greg Suhr.
The It Gets Better Project started in 2010 after a slew of LGBT suicides across the nation. Since then, thousands of ordinary people, celebrities, politicians, and now cops have made videos.
