Muni Masturbation Inspires Bay Citizen Poll on Public Transit Perverts

After former SF Weekly staff writer Lauren Smiley regaled readers with her ribald version of a Muni ride home alongside one too many masturbators, it appears those public transit perverts have intrigued the local media.

Specifically, The Bay Citizen wants to know just how often Muni and BART riders like you and me are sitting next to passengers who are pleasuring themselves. Not surprisingly, public transit cock-sightings, while generally unwelcome, are not widely reported, which is why the local nonprofit has taken the matter into its own hands (pun intended).

The Bay Citizen has created an online poll, asking readers to share their experiences with men (or women?) sexualizing their transit rides so we can all better understand the magnitude of this deviant behavior.

It's a simple three questions, and there's a comment section to give all you pissed-off ladies a chance to vent about those unwanted crotches (be careful, your comments could be used for publication).

Check out the full poll here.

I think at this point I would refer anyone reading this art to the op-blog done several days ago in the NYT regarding the protesting of a new possible law prohibiting any noshing on the NY subways as some kind of ethnic-social zeitgeist. I spent at least the better part of 15 minutes in a reply explaining how and why such a practice, although historically and contextually ok at one time, was probably not a good idea, all things considered, in todays...context.Need I say more?

Erin Sherbert's lack of intellectual seriousness is readily apparent. Making light of sexual harassment is so old school, such a good way to keep women from using public spaces and leading full lives -- lives that include getting to and from a paying job.

Sadly, Ms. Sherbert's lack of taste, sensitivity, or seriousness is chronic.  Does anyone else remember her article in which she brought up Bryan Stowe's past run ins with the law, 20 years before he was nearly beaten to death at Dodger Stadium?  Now, that was a classy piece of journalism.

Ms. Sherbert, So nice to see that you do read the comments section to your own articles.  A pity that you don't learn anything from doing so.

Dave Chappelle should get some credit for bringing this public menace to wider attention.
