Fish and Game President Blasted for Shooting Mountain Lion

•  This article fails to mention there is an ongoing investigation in Southern California at the Tejon Ranch where a few dozen Mt. Lions were illegally shot during fee hunting activities.  How can CA Fish and Game hold it's standards when the leadership has no ethics?

• The more I think about it the more I wonder why anyone would think that the president of the fish and game commission SHOULD NOT be a hunter.  Shouldn't the department that regulates hunters be regulated by a hunter? Anybody who thinks otherwise must have another agenda in mind.

• It is a sick mind that considers the killing of anything a trophy!  Animals kill for survival, not some sick, perverted pleasure. Man (or some men) feel the need to kill in order to prove their superiority of others. The only reason they kill animals rather than another more equal combatant (other men) is because the law considers killing the latter murder, and the latter also has the same weapons and can fight back!   

• Explain to me how killing what is actually a rare creature, while in hiding, with a weapon that prevents him getting close to his "VICTIM" makes him a great man.  More like the f*&n coward he his.  I might be impressed if he'd killed this creature of God in hand to claw combat defending someone!

Two wrongs have never made a right.  Last time I check the Bible it said "Thou shalt not kill" and all examples of animal killings involve direct sacrifices to God or for the purpose of food. Unless this killer is grinding up cougar burgers or went to Mt. Sinai and had God request a feline sacrifice from him, he is simply someone who kills for the sake of killing. There is no moral compass that points in that direction and crapping and sleeping in a park is not mentioned anywhere in any religious text.  Poor ignorant souls. • Exactly! And since this country has lost its moral compass having denied the standard that establishes morality (God) then we are left with merely obediance to law. You who point fingers at Mr. Richards are every bit as much a hypocrite as you are accusing him of being. There are things in your own lives that you do not condone and yet do them yourselves; get the friggin' log out of your own eye. By your standards you have no more right to tell me it's wrong to hunt mountain lions (where it's legal) than I do to tell you it's wrong to be gay (where it's legal). Tell you what, let's all admit our own hypocracy and allow others to live their lives the way they want to (as long as it's legal).

• Lots of DFG guys hunt. That's why they get into fish and game, because we want to take care of the land and animals. Hunting is a part of life, deal with it. I eat what I kill. Better than mass ranched cattle and poultry. Killing a trophy animal is just that, killing for a trophy. No different then on a safari in Africa and taking a cape buffalo or gazelle. You may not agree with it, but this is America. If you can sleep and crap in Justin Herman plaza for months, I can go kill an animal.

• More underhanded sneaky politics by the Humane Society. If they are so concerned about Mountain Lion hunting. Why are we not directed to write our letters to the Governor of Idaho? Could it be this is not about Mountain Lions at all? And I like the way the article classifies an entire state as gun"Gun Happier". Don't fall for it folks. Their lying to you.

• What a dick.  Mr. Richards should resign his post and move to Idaho if he wants to kill those animals.  It may be legal in Idaho to kill them, but I believe they are still endangered.  Regardless, Mr. Richards should use a bit of discretion and not have his damned picture taken showing how proud he is to have killed one.  If he wants to hunt them, he should resign his position and move to Idaho.

• This man was not hunting - how can you call it hunting when the animal lived on an enclosed ranch and is chased up a tree by a pack of dogs and then shot... This is not even sport.  He should be ashamed of himself and resign from his position as a "leader" in the California Fish & Game.  I have signed a petition to have him removed... This whole thing just makes me sick....
