Telegraph Hill Rockslide: Residents Allowed Back Home, Hilltop Still Unsafe

Now you can get that new car you've been wanting

​Those unfortunate residents living below treacherous Telegraph Hill are being allowed back inside their homes after Mother Nature dumped piles of rocks onto the residential area, making it completely unsafe for living.

Although residents are now being allowed back in their condos, city officials are warning they they better not sleep there just yet. Engineers -- who continue to work removing small rocks -- told reporters that the hillside was still unstable and that more rocks would fall at some point. 

Public Works officials placed concrete K-rail barriers to keep boulders secure and away from the apartment building on the corner of Montgomery and Lombard streets. Still, city engineers and geologists are concerned with what is at the top of the hill.

The long overdue rains apparently loosened the boulders -- some of which were as large as 5 feet -- which slid down the hill Monday morning, crushing a parked car at the multistory condo complex.

Thankfully, there were no injuries.

Also, residents there will be happy to know that it's not expected to rain for the next week.
