Giselle Esteban, "Jealous" Woman Accused of Killing Michelle Le, Pleads Not Guilty

The Union City woman, who recently gave birth to her second child while in jail, was reportedly ordered to appear in court on Feb. 17, when a date for her trial should be set. She is being held in Alameda County Jail without bail.
An Alameda County criminal Grand Jury indicted Esteban on Dec. 14, which means prosecutors could skip the discovery, or the court hearing where they must prove there's enough evidence to take the case to trial.
Esteban was arrested on Sept. 8 -- a week before Le's body was found in a remote area near Sunol. Investigators linked Esteban's DNA to the crime scene, and traced her phone records which they say only bolstered their case.
Le, 26, was a nursing student working her shift at Kaiser Hospital in Hayward when she went to her car to take a quick break. Her mentor called police when Le never came back. The next day, police found her car parked on a residential street less than a mile from the hospital. Police later revealed there were traces of Le's blood inside the car.
Police found video footage showing Esteban and Le inside the Kaiser parking garage where her car had been parked the evening she was killed. They believe Esteban assaulted Le and then put her body in the trunk of the car and drove away. Police got a search warrant for Esteban's home and computer. They found Le's DNA on Esteban's athletic shoes.
Prosecutors are now arguing that Esteban, who went to high school with Le, killed her in a jealous rage. All along, Esteban admitted she openly dislike Le, because she felt she had ruined her relationship with her ex-boyfriend, also the father of her first child.
