Frederick A. Dozier: Police Release Photo of Accused Mission District Rapist
| Sexual assault suspect |
On Friday, police said they arrested 32-year-old Federick Dozier after a tip led them to the Bernal Dwellings Housing Projects, where Dozier was taken into custody shortly before 5 p.m. He faces multiple charges, including felony sexual assault, robbery, and kidnapping.
In addition to the two recent high-profile rapes along the 24th Street corridor, police say DNA evidence linked Dozier to another sexual assault over the summer, where he allegedly attacked a woman in her 30s at about 3 a.m. near South Van Ness and 24th Street.
In each case, his M.O was the same, and the attacks became progressively violent as he preyed on women who were walking alone in the early-morning hours near 24th Street.
On Nov. 18 he attacked a woman in her 50s, as she walked along 24th Street and Potrero. He came up to her from behind, threw her down on the ground, then robbed and raped her, police said.
However, the most disturbing incident came on Dec. 8, when Dozier allegedly attacked a woman from behind as she walked to the 24th Street BART station. He brutally raped her near Fair Oaks and 24th Street, where he beat her so badly that the Fire Department was called in to clear blood from the sidewalk.
Police say DNA evidence linked them to all three attacks.
