Drunk Man Uses Fork to Stab Other Drunk Man on Muni Bus

Riding Muni is no picnic
Anyone who has ever boarded a Muni bus already knows the great risks that come with riding. You will likely at some point get your iPhone snatched right out of your hands, or perhaps you might get stabbed or shot. Even worse, you might wind up sitting next to a dude jerking off.

Nevertheless, it's well documented that a jaunt on Muni isn't exactly a trip to the spa.

And last night was no exception. According to police, one rider's tip through North Beach ended in a trip to the hospital after two drunk men got into a brawl, which involved, of all things, a dinner fork.

At about 2:30 a.m., an inebriated man was "yelling and screaming" on the bus, which was traveling along Columbus Avenue. The loud man was getting on his neighbor's nerves and another drunk man told him to shut the hell up.

And because alcohol, testosterone, and Muni don't seem to mix well, it wasn't surprising that the two drunk passengers got into a fight. Instead of pulling out a knife, the suspect brandished a fork and stabbed the victim in the nose.

The fight spilled out onto the street where the suspect -- sticking to a mealtime theme-- took a bite out of the victim's arm.

Luckily, that's where it all ended. Police were called to the scene, where they arrested 46-year-old Dewayne Austin Shelton of San Francisco. He was booked into San Francisco County Jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.
