Steven Young was shot and killed by S.F. police last week
Medical authorities identified the man whom police shot and killed last week during a routine traffic stop in the Lower Nob Hill neighborhood as 33-year-old Steven Young.

Young, a San Carlos resident, was pulled over by San Francisco police at about 1:25 p.m. on Wednesday. As officers approached the car, Young got out of the vehicle and began running southbound on Larkin Street, according to police.

Halfway through the block, Young turned around and allegedly began shooting at the cops, who then fired back, hitting Young in the upper torso area, according to police.

Young died Thursday night at San Francisco General Hospital.

If you want to know more about what happened, come the Northern District Police Station this evening; Police Chief Greg Suhr is scheduled to discuss details of the shooting at a community forum. The meeting will begin at 4 p.m at 1125 Fillmore.
