Occupy SF, Please Come Pick Up Your Stuff

Um, whoever was occupying this, please come get it.
Dump trucks swept through Justin Herman Plaza early this morning, collecting all the stuff that protesters left behind after police raided the Occupy SF encampment early this morning.

Rest assured, the city has no desire to hang onto any of these used items, which is why officials are asking protesters come collect their gear today at the Department of Public Works operations yard, located at 2323 Cesar Chavez. Occupiers can claim their stuff between 1 and 5 p.m. The operations yard will be open again tomorrow and the rest of the week starting at 8 a.m., said Gloria Chan, spokeswoman for the city's Department of Public Works.

Of course, the treasure trove left behind was as eclectic and curious as the occupiers themselves. There were the necessities -- shoes, clothes, suitcases -- and then there were the frivolous items -- skis, solar panels, and bikes.

And then there were the puzzling items, like mannequins.

"I don't know, and I don't even want to know," Chan told us when we asked why there were mannequins at the camp.

Don't think this is your chance to get some free solar panels; if protesters want their stuff back, they will have to give a rather detailed description of each item they are claiming is theirs, Chan says.

The city will hold onto the Occupy collection for at least a month --  maybe longer.

So come get your crap, please.
