Occupy Oakland: Protesters Arrested While Occupying Foreclosed Home
| Oakland has no shortage of foreclosed homes to occupy |
Like every other occupation, this one also went awry. As KGO reports, police arrived at 1415 and 1417 10th St. on Thursday where activists from Causa Justa (Just Cause) and Occupy Oakland had been squatting, perhaps since early December.
The home's doors and windows were boarded up after police cleared the residence. However, occupiers assured police and reporters that there are plenty of foreclosed homes left to occupy.
"This is one of several
properties in Oakland that are being squatted and occupied," Occupy
Oakland protester Spencer Mills told the Mercury News. On Wednesday police cleared out a new Occupy encampment on the 2000 bock of Peralta after property owners were unsuccessful in trying to get the protesters to move. One person was arrested and 14 others were cited for trespassing on private property. Follow us on Twitter at @SFWeekly and @TheSnitchSF
