Occupy Oakland Camp Dismantled by Police -- Again
| Erin Sherbert |
According to the Chron, police were instructed by the property owner to get rid of the Occupiers, who began occupying the site at 2000 Peralta on Tuesday. Protesters moved in on the site, naming it the "Cypress Triangle" and deeming it a "winter safe haven" for protesters and homeless folks.
However, police moved in on the camp at about 5 p.m. Wednesday, citing protesters for trespassing and arresting one for not showing ID, the Chron reports.
Property owners said they had asked the protesters to pack up and leave peacefully -- and when that didn't work, they called Oakland police, who wasted no time removing the camp.
We're excited to see what protesters will occupy next.
