Nancy Pelosi, Dianne Feinstein Are Stinking Rich

Put your money where your mouth is
Here is something that might inspire the dwindling Occupiers to return to their tents: While our very own Nancy Pelosi was pushing to extend unemployment  benefits that will, ideally, keep Spam on the tables of the 99 percent -- and provide a boatload of jobs! -- the San Francisco Democrat has risen to become the ninth-richest member of Congress.

Pelosi has consistently expressed her support for the polemical Occupy Movement, making statements like "God Bless the 99 percent." But we don't need Pelosi's spoken support. We need her money!

According to the Center For Responsive Politics, our San Francisco reps have a total net worth of greater than $310 million. That includes Pelosi's whopping net worth of $196,299,990; Sen. Dianne Feinstein's $93,707,020; and Congresswoman Jackie Speier, who is the 31st-richest rep, with a net worth of $20,527,999.

Meanwhile, Senator Barbara Boxer is valued at a little more than $5 million.

Who's the richest member of Congress? That'd be California's Darrell Issa (R-Vista), who's worth more than $700 million. And the poorest sod on the hill? Alcee Hastings (D, Florida) is millions in the red. Poor Alcee, he's living off coupons, just like the rest of us.

To quote Pelosi during a recent speech about economic inequality: "Something is wrong with this picture."

Isn't it funny that when Democrats aren't rich they are called "welfare queens" and when they are they are called "elites". There is nothing substantive in this article only to talk about how rich politicians are. Yes there are Democrats who know how to make money!  so what! If your poor and Republican its your fault stop being lazy and get a job. Isn't that what conservatives believe, personal responsibility?

What planet is this author from?  Saying Nancy Pelosi is rich is sort of like exclaiming the sky is blue!  It is a well-known fact that Nancy Pelosi is a millionaire, and so is Feinstein and Boxer.  There are several millionaires in Congress, and this is no secret.

Either it bothers voters that their elected representatives are rich, or it doesn't.  If it bothers you, then you know what you can do?  Vote for someone else next election!  If it doesn't bother you, then find another issue to worry about.

Wake up Nancy, You work for the 99% but you live the life of Her Royal Highness.  All that money you spend so freely, such as staying in the $10,000 a night suite in Hawaii on Christmas, belongs to the 99%.

The money certainly doesn't belong to the "99%". You want money? Go earn it or inherit it. There is nothing wrong with having money.

Many people who "work" for congress, or "earn" sky high wages operate under the delusion that they earned the money. Luck had nothing to do with it.  I know many brilliant people with crap ass luck who are dirt poor.  Not only that, but to succeed in the business world, one has to do an awful lot of looking away from the fact that 99% of their co-workers are whiter than sour cream.....

there's a ton of hypocrisy to go around. Apparently the following are true:

-only republicans are allowed to be rich. if you're not a republican, you're a bad person for being wealthy and can't believe in your ideals, whatever they may or may not be. The internet says so.

and:

-if you're a protester from Occupy or whatever you don't protest ALL zillionaire politicians, regardless of party you just target the right. (local liberals who give away money to the 1% are given a pass too, see: Ed Lee)

I mean, why aren't people protesting at DiFi's mansion or Pelosi's events or whatever RIGHT HERE IN SO - CALLED LIBERAL SF?

ah well. logic. empty on all sides of the ideological bullshit meter online and in sf!

Rather obviously, the issue is not how rich the politician, the issue is what they are or aren't doing for other people.  This is not something that takes a ten-year-old intellect to figure out.

What hypocrisy and double standards of these rich, millionaire, billionaire Democrats!  What ever happened to that billionaire, ex-Goldman Sachs CEO, US Senator and Gov. of New Jersey, Jon Corzine?  Has MF Global found the missing millions?

You know I still haven't actually met anyone who has voted for her, despite living here since 1988. Ya suppose there might be some voter fraud involved?  ;)
