Red-Tailed Hawk Released into the Wild After Being Shot with Nail Gun

It's great to know the crippled Red-tailed Hawk that suffered for nearly two weeks after apparently being shot in the head with a nail gun is flying high again. The bird was released back into the wild today during a peaceful event at Golden Gate Park -- in the same location where it was found.

Rescuers had trapped the injured hawk in Golden Gate Park on Oct. 21 and nursed it back to health; it spent 10 days recovering at the Milpitas-based Wildlife Center of Silicon Valley before it flew away earlier this morning.
