Be very careful Texas! Californians can carry their viral political views with them. Get enough of them voting and, sooner or later, they'll turn Texas into another California. Just look at what's happening in New Hampshire. Massachusetts exiles, fed up with the high taxes and regulations they voted for, are moving to New Hampshire and voting for the same entitlements that got them in trouble in Taxachusetts. Try to make friends with these exiles and teach them what it means to be a Texan. Otherwise, eventually they may have to be educated by other means.

depending on your income when you retire you might do the math. Yes texas has no income tax butdepevding on your are in Texas they have high property taxes as much as 4000-5000 a year or more. I did the math and found it was cheaper for us to retire in Missouri ozarks based on 50K/yr. Total home property tax 358/yr, income tax 1700vehicles property tax 350/yrSo about 2500 total still for us about 1500 less year
