Roma Bhatia's Body Found on Side of Highway, Police Puzzled by Mysterious Death
| What happened to Roma? |
Authorities say 47-year-old Roma Bhatia's body went unnoticed on the busy freeway, where she was possibly hit by a car. Bhatia had died by the time the California Highway Patrol arrived at about 8:20 p.m. Saturday. There was no vehicle at the scene and no witnesses have come forward.
Police can't figure out why Bhatia was walking on the freeway, or how her body ended up on the side of the road, just south of Bollinger Canyon Road. Her car was nowhere near the freeway, and police say Bhatia was at a hair salon not three miles away from the freeway shortly before authorities were called to the scene, according to news reports.
"At this point what we have is that Roma had already been struck and received fatal injuries when authorities arrived," CHP Officer Steve Creel told reporters."Our interest is because this occurred on an interstate freeway is that several people should have seen her body."
However, her family says there is no way Bhatia had been walking on the freeway. Her sister, Vini Ehsan, told NBC that Bhatia's death is a complete mystery. "She was the type of person that would use valet parking," Ehsan said. "She was not the type of person who would prefer to be on a treadmill than walking on the road."
