OK Cupid Opens San Francisco Office
| Cupid comes to SF |
OK Cupid's wry interface and self-conscious hipness suits San Francisco down to the ground, but the company is actually based in New York. Apparently OKC's honchos figured they'd find fertile ground for a new enterprise in the Bay Area, because they just set up some sort of incubator business in San Francisco, called OK Cupid Labs.
OK Cupid was bought by Dallas-based Match.com earlier this year. OKC Co-founder and CEO Sam Yagan tells All Things D that the new ventures to spin out of OK Cupid Labs could be in the online dating business, or "a way to bring people together that's not explicitly dating."
And attention, fun-and under-employed techies: Looks like they're hiring. According to the new company's website, "OK Cupid Labs is looking for passionately creative engineers, designers, and data specialists to help us create the next wave of products and systems in the dating space."
As an added benefit, the new office is based in SOMA. That means you can look forward to rubbing shoulders with a bunch of 40-year-old tech dorks in hoodies and Pumas when you file into line for your favorite restaurant at lunch.
