Girl, 11, Shot; Several Lanes of 101 Closed to Traffic
Police responded to the unit block of Leland Avenue after gunshots were detected by the Shot Spotter system at about 3:45 p.m. Several callers told 911 operators that the shooters had fired at a mini park at Leland and Peabody streets.
The shooters were seen getting into a green, two-door Lexus.
Officers found the young girl, who was not an intended target of the shooting, with non life threatening injuries. She was taken to the hospital where she is being treated for a gunshot wound.
Meanwhile, police spotted a Lexus matching the description of the suspect's car entering Highway 101 from Bayshore. Officers stopped the driver and detained three people in the Lexus. A gun was also found inside the car.
Police are investigating the shooting, and had no further details at this time.
