Gregoire never resurfaced after his kayak capsized
Authorities searched well into the morning for Thomas Gregoire, the 55-year-old man who has been missing since his kayak capsized at Pier 80 in San Francisco yesterday afternoon.

Gregoire was paddling back from Candlestick Park with friends at about 2:40 p.m. when his kayak flipped over. Police told reporters that Gregoire might have paddled a little too close to a tugboat, and was rocked by the strong wake.

The kayak flipped -- and Gregoire never resurfaced, according to news reports.

Gregoire had been wearing a red shirt and a blue vest when he entered the water, according to U.S. Coast Guard Ensign Mark Leahey. San Francisco Fire and Police departments as well as the Coast Guard used a helicopter, boats, and divers to search for Gregoire, who as of early Monday morning was presumed dead.

At this point, rescue crews said they will continue searching through today to try and recover Gregoire's body.
