Update (3:10 p.m.): The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner's Office says it was Steve Tausan who was shot and killed Saturday during a funeral for another Hells Angel.

San Jose police are keeping unusually quiet about the weekend shooting where a Hells Angel was killed after a gunman opened fire during a funeral service for another member of the notorious motorcycle club.

Police told reporters they are "actively working the case" but have made no arrests, identified no suspect, and have yet to release the name of the victim.

The shooting happened at Oak Hill Cemetery where thousands of people gathered to mourn the death of Jeffrey "Jethro" Pettigrew, president of the Hells Angels' San Jose chapter, who was  shot to death last month at a casino in Nevada. Ernesto Manuel Gonzalez, a rival motorcycle club member, was arrested two weeks ago in San Francisco on suspicion of shooting Pettigrew.

The casino shooting sparked rage among the motorcycle club, prompting heavy police presence at Saturday's funeral services. But even with cops swarming the service, the shooter managed to escape and has not been found, police said.

"We can't be next to every individual," San Jose Police spokesman Jose Garcia told reporters. "There were 4,000 people there."

By the time police got to where the shooting occurred, the scene had been tampered with, which "foiled the investigation," Garcia said.
