In fact, during the the trial the prosecuting attorneys asked Mr. Tausan if he knew what the # 187 was penal code for. He responded by confirming that he did. The attorney than asked if he had a tattoo that said "Mr. 187" ?  He confirmed that he did. The attorney now quite confident he had lured Mr. Tausan into his trap, asked him to please explain to the court why an innocent man would be wanted to be known as "Mr. 187"? Tausan responded that he didnt.  The attorney than reiterated the fact that Tausan had a tattoo that clearly identifies him as "Mr. 187".  Then asks Tausan why he would have such a tattoo which clearly demonstrates that he wants to be known as / and clearly admits to being "Mr. 187",  and has openly admitted knowing full well what the code 187 means. Tausan than looks the attorney in the eye and says, "Sir, I started boxing at the age of nine. • I feel bad for the family of Steve Tausan. I've met him twice. Why do a lot of people think if somebody killed a hells angel he is going to get killed in prison? Have any of you ever did time in prison? They have no power in prison. There would be one or two on a prison yard of a thousand inmates. They can't even fill a table at chow time. I have two friends who are Correctional Officers in San Quentin State Prison and have noticed for years that the whites in prison don't really respect the HA all that much. They get treated like second class citizens. The ones who stay on a yard usually fall slave to the AB (Aryan Brotherhood) or other white power groups. The Hells Angels have paid the AB for protection in the past while behind bars. They can't make any moves or call shots on anybody, especially if that someone is of another race. I have never encountered a killing where one of them avenged the murder of one of their own behind bars. They have some power on the street, mostly because a lot of people are like you, they pump up the rep of the Hells Angels, to the point where they think they can reach into prison to have a person killed. Other biker gangs, like the Mongols, Outlaws and now the Vagos have killed high ranking angels and some of them never did anything back to them. What makes this time any different? You guys think they are like the mafia was at one time.

• Steve Tausan was also known in the Hells Angels as Mr. 187"     (the California penal code for murder).  He had 5  boxing matches from 1983-1985 as a middleweight  In San Jose and Visalia,   winning 3 and losing 2, one by knockout.    He had a much better  fighting record vs. drunken transients while working as a bouncer at the Pink Poodle strip club in San Jose.   Tausan was called in by David Kuzinich, the owner, on August 29,1997, to "take care" of a drunken 38 year old   man named Kevin Sullivan.   Mr Sullivan had previously had words with  Mr Kuzinich at a bar across the street named Alex's 49er Inn.  Prosecutors believe Mr. Kuzinich then  lured Kevin Sullivan to his bar by offering him free dances and coffee, then calling his Hells Angel bouncer to come and attack him.   When he arrived, Steve Tausan savagely attacked and beat the drunk and helpless Kevin Sullivan to death, leaving him propped in a chair with his lower lip nearly detached, a badly broken nose and deep cuts on his face. He died that night.   Tausan beat the charges by claiming self-defense.    Let the glowing eulogies for for the dearly departed Mr Tausan begin.
