BART officials are warning that this morning's commute will be a total nightmare. Equipment issues caused a brief power outage that has drastically slowed trains into San Francisco.

BART spokesman Jim Allison told reporters to expect delays up to 30 minutes on the Fremont-to-Richmond line, the Fremont-to-Daly City line, and the Dublin/Pleasanton-to-Daly City line.

"This is creating quite a backup, since this is a heavily trafficked area of our system, three of our five lines go through that particular section of track," Allison said.

The equipment problems were unrelated to the 3.6 earthquake in the East Bay early this morning, which brought BART and Muni trains to a halt.
