Karim Mayfield: Extra Rounds with San Francisco Boxer
This week's cover story follows the Fillmore's own Karim Mayfield, who has boxed his way into contention in a sport that's all but dead locally -- and rewards the vast majority of its participants with little beyond pain and suffering.
Mayfield's dreams of ring success have lived to fight another day -- he's 15-0-1 and is perhaps several bouts away from the near-mythical big payday. And, to whatever adjectives one would use to describe his attributes as a boxer, you can add this one: photogenic.
SF Weekly amassed far more amazing photographs of Mayfield than we could cram into our print edition (as well as the above video, which, naturally, wasn't fit to print).
