Howard Eskin, Cocky Sports Reporter, Pledges to Bike from Philly to San Francisco

| And Eskin thought losing was the hard part. |
But his 60-year-old knees may be feeling their own "cold mortal lock" if he winds up following through with a promise he made on the air last week: Should the 49ers beat the Eagles, then he would bike from Philly to San Francisco: A tender 3,189 miles.
"I will tell you right now, there is no chance the 49ers will win. Zero," Eskin said on KNBR Friday. "I'll take a bike from Philadelphia to San Francisco [if the 49ers beat the Eagles]."
Well, looks like he'll have to get out those spandex -- because the 49ers won.
In the wake of demands that he follow up on his promise -- including one from his son, who says, "Dad, get on the bike" -- Eskin's tweets have mostly evaded the notion that he actually be taking a ride anytime soon.
"I think I forgot the bet," he tweeted around 6 p.m. Sunday. But just a few hours ago, he appeared to be looking for some logistics on the route itself, perhaps signaling the planning stage of this dreaded trek, which, by the way, he could probably turn into a good cause, like raising money for charity.
"Anybody have the best and SHORTEST route," he tweeted around 8 a.m. today. "That's a LONG ride. Is there a san francisco on the east coast."
Here, Eskin, we Google mapped it for you. In the meanwhile, here's our advice to you ... next time don't let your mouth write checks your ass can't cash.
And bring a bike pump!
