Harold Camping's Rapture Prediction -- Animated
Bizarre news stories take on a certain cachet these days when they inspire cartoons from Next Media Animation, the offbeat Hong Kong-based company that has produced humorous CGI depictions of the travails of Charlie Sheen and Tiger Woods. The latest figure in the public eye to get NMA's attention is none other than Oakland's Harold Camping, who predicts the world will end Oct. 21, 2011 -- that's today.
Camping, president of Family Radio, has twice before predicted the Rapture of the faithful and been wrong. Yet in an audio broadcast, Camping -- who suffered a stroke after his prediction that the world would end on May 21, 2011 -- says, "the end is going to come very, very quietly probably within the next month ... by October 21."
The folks at NMA make fine sport of this situation, suggesting that Camping's prediction of an impending apocalypse could have something to do with the German satellite that might crash into the earth this weekend. (Then again, maybe the "quiet" end was already getting underway with the minor earthquake yesterday)
At any rate, watch and enjoy.
