Shark Fin Ban Passed in California State Senate
| This time it's personal. |
According to staffers in the office of Assemblymember Paul Fong, the California Senate just passed AB 376, the statewide ban on selling or importing shark's fin, with a vote of 25 to 9. California may soon become the nation's fourth state to enact the ban -- and certainly the one with the largest Chinese American community -- which is aimed at combating the practice of shark finning. If the governor signs AB 376 into law, it will take effect January 1, 2013.Follow us on Twitter at @SFWeekly and @SFWeekly
