Scientology Apostate Part I: San Francisco Church's Stats

ethicstrouble speaks.
A couple weeks ago, the masked Anonymous protesters who've been organizing protests outside San Francisco's Church of Scientology for the last three years received a jolt of affirmation. A self-proclaimed Scientologist logged onto the group's local message board with the handle "ethicstrouble," thanking Anonymous for its protests and writing "I hope one day to join you."

The San Francisco church's president, Jeff Quiros, told SF Weekly he thought the apostate was a fraud, created by Anonymous themselves. But SF Weekly has since talked at length with ethicstrouble on the phone, and they sent us a bevy of graphs that they said they smuggled out of the trash at the org.

After reviewing the graphs, Quiros claimed they are fake. "They are not legit," he wrote in an e-mail. "Someone is going to great lengths ... I wish SF Weekly would not continue to give legs to this nonsense game."

Download the graphs ethicstrouble sent SF Weekly in these PDF files.
[firstsetofgraphs][secondsetofgraphs]

Indeed, SF Weekly cannot confirm ethicstrouble is the San Francisco Scientologist they claim to be. But we'll share the detailed information about the San Francisco org they gave us, and readers can decide for themselves whether it's credible or not.

This week, we will present our ethicstrouble interview in multiple parts. Fearful of being discovered, ethicstrouble talked with us on the condition of only being identified as a 10-to-20-year member of the church who has shelled out more than $50,000 on coursework. We'll refer to ethicstrouble with a gender-less "they" pronoun.

Ethicstrouble said they called us from a telephone line they had acquired especially for this purpose, and asked us not to reveal what time we spoke. "Don't tell [President Jeff Quiros] in any way when I talked to you. If you let him know the times I was able to call you that will really narrow me down."

They first sent us graphs which they said they whisked out of a garbage can at the org before the papers hit the shredder.

Ethicstrouble says the graphs have proven to Quiros that they are from inside the church, and says their talking to the SF Weekly has created quite a stir within the org: "If you've seen the graphs I've sent you, they know those are real. I'm not worried about them believing I'm real. I can sense it; they feel it. My problem is proving to everyone else -- to you -- that I'm real."

Here's what ethicstrouble wrote to us to explain some of the acronyms in the graphs.

ACTPRO:  That is the number of people auditing independently in their area. In the San Francisco area there are only two people auditing in a self-employed practice and possibly making a living out of it. That is a very small number, much smaller than years ago.

HDSCOMPS and HDACOMPS: These are the two courses that teach people how to audit Dianetics. HDSCOMPS is the basic training and HDACOMPS is the training to be a professional Dianetic auditor. So you can see there are almost no Dianetic auditors being made.

TTCNBR and TTCGRAD: These are the people in the technical training corps.... They are training to be auditors or word clearers or course supervisors, and they are either training at Flag in Florida or here at the Org. So at the end of the one graph we had 13 people in and during this time frame not one had completed a course. If one was to be a auditor for example, he will have at least 12 or more courses to complete his training

BIS: Bodies in the shop, how many people are in the Org doing a course. Course supervisors often call people and beg them to come in for one hour for the week so this statistic is higher.

WDAHP: This is for people doing the sauna sweat program. As you can see, there is something really wrong with this graph. The standard preferred schedule for someone doing the program is four to fuve hours a day, seven days a week, with the only exceptions given to people with physical problems -- then the hours may be reduced.

GDS GBS: This is the total dollar value of books sold. This includes e-meters, which sell for over $3,000, so as you can see no e-meters were sold.

PSO: This is the film shown to new people who don't know anything about Scientology.

CL: The state called "clear" was the whole purpose of Dianetics. You must go clear before going higher up the bridge. It costs tens of thousands of dollars to go clear.

GDS PDC: This is for everything completed in the Org, from courses to extension coursed to word clearing, anything that is paid for and completed. This can be deceiving because someone can pay for two or three little things in one week, so you can get three points for one person doing a few little paid services.

WDAHWO: These are how many hours of auditing were produced without the purif hours. (hours in the sauna are considered auditing, I know it's weird). Graph looks like it is trending down to me.

GDS FHS: This is the number of staff who have been trained to do their job. All other staff are not fully trained.

PTF: This is how much money was given to Flag for the people we have training over there. We have to pay for their food, lodging, and courses. Very expensive. They study there starting at 9 a.m. till 10 p.m. with half-day off on Sunday to do laundry.

CGI: Here is the gross income for the Org, includes everything.

SOLO1COMPS: This is the first course you do after becoming clear and before doing OT levels.

More coming up tomorrow.

Likely that the story is true.  If the SF org is anything like the LA one, it has been reported that the cars in the parking lot are nearly non-existant.  Not that I'm against any religion, but I am against any sort of physical abuse.  There are 300 complaints re: the COS that aren't being acted on.  There is a petition you can sign to get the govt to investigate why attempts to do anything about the alleged culprits are being stopped or blocked.  You are welcome to write me p_krenik@hotmail.com and I will send you the link.

What is the real danger to people for just leaving the org?

Wow, I didn't know until today Village Voice had a sister site. Yeah, pretty dumb, huh!

Just thought I'd drop in to read your articles. Can't wait to hear what's next. :-P

ethicstrouble - great job! Please be safe.

Here's how I'm hoping this ends: Jeff Quiros steps out during a protest, takes off his tie and blazer, crosses the street, and says, "Hi, I'm ethicstrouble. Fuck Scientology." And then everyone dances and gets icecream.

I said 'hoping'.

Well, they look real to me.  It must suck working there. Reminds me of my days on staff back in the 80s where there was a dark cloud over everything because no money was coming in.

Ms. Smiley, please tell ethicstrouble that if they try to force him into an ethics investigation on the e-meter, tell him that it's easy to fake a floating needle. Tell him to just think about all the  good he's doing by getting these graphs to you and all the happy people reading them!

Lauren, is the whistleblower an apostate? They may still believe in Scientology, but not support management. That would make them a would-be defector, but not an apostate.

JustCallMeMary
JustCallMeMary

Heather, while that may be true over in MartyWorld, it simply is not true in reality. To the church, anyone disagreeing publicly with policy, tech and or management is an apostate. Policy dictates what one is supposed to do with one's grievences. Leaving the church and posting ones thoughts about management on the internet is not on the list and is actionable according to Hubbard's ethics and PTS tech. KSW includes Scientology administrative policies which were written to keep the tech in. If you have ever been on staff or in the Sea Org, you will undersand this better.

This was one of the first decisions I had to make as a scientology after being out for many years but finally going on the internet and speaking out. It's a choice with consequences but a choice never the less. I am proud to say that I made the choice and that I am an apostate :)

***THIS IS SERIOUS BUSINESS****

Remember when the church played music at a protest? They all wore earplugs, while they played music at 140db meant to damage the ears of the protesters.

This is called domestic terrorism.

Youtube "angry gay pope twin peaks" and ask yourself these questions:

Why does a church need to hide propane?

Why does a church need to hoard propane? (these tanks usually service *entire counties* for farms.

Why does a church run and hide when a cameraman shows up to film them hiding their propane?

How much more propane do they have hidden?

What are the church's business interests in carbons?

How many pound of high-grade explosives do they have for their private gold mine?

This is the same church that got caught making false bomb threats on themselves, by being so stupid to release to the public a video or higher quality. (yet they have not been charged)

INVESTIGATE THE PROPANE!!! WHERE IS Homeland Security? Where is the FBI? THis is total bullshit and they have already proclaimed, very publicly to harm *any* American who protests them.

You have to be a fucking moron to NOT call Department of Homeland Security after see the Twin Peaks video, and knowing about their gold mine. I called them and repoted the suspicious activity involving explosives, that warrants a further investigation.

This church will blow your ass up, damage your ears and use PI's to stalk 10,000 kids to send legal letter to their fucking parents house to scare them into not protesting them.

INVESTIGATE THE PROPANE before it is your ass they blow up.

Great post!  And absolutely true!  The propane tanks are HUGE!  WTF do they need that much propane for?  And as Sheriff says, THIS IS SERIOUS BUSINESS!  There's no telling what Crime, Inc., will do with this stuff.  Everyone should call Homeland Security and continue to report them until the FBI investigates.

The graphs are consistent with the one that the OT8 named Jerry showed the protesters at the San Franciso org.  He tried to convince them that their stats are up since the protests began and showed a graph to support his claim.  There's a youtube video of the protest (google "scientologist ot 8 jerry thanks anonymous")  and the close-up of the graph is at 1:14.

Many of these statistics start their death slide down right about the middle of March. Every year all Scientology Orgs "play" what is called the "LRH Birthday Game". L. Ron Hubbard's Birthday is March 13th. The idea is that every Scientology Organization or Mission works hard to get their statistics UP as a birthday present to Ron. The reason the word 'Play" is in quotes is because its not a very fun game, its more of a psychotic push to make the stats go up without any real planning on how to keep them up. So what happens every year is that when the game is over the stats crash. Whopppeee!!!!

Old OT7
Old OT7

That's what happened when I was on lines at the Orange County Org in Tustin (Calif).  They won one year (maybe 1980?).  After that the stats crashed.  In Hollywood, the L.A. Org would get people off the street to put down a quarter on a course and count that as a "start."  Their so called stats are very, very arbitrary and worth a plug nickle.

Besides, Crime, Inc., will be washed up soon.

These are definitely consistent and yes, seem to be correlate with eyewitness documentation of the 12 million people Not flocking to this building.  This is a dead org.

Records of North Vietnamese killed during the war were found to be inaccurate because of the high percentage of prime numbers used in the reports. It's a simple fact that people that make up numbers subconsciously use a disproportionately high percentage of prime numbers because they seem to be more random. I haven't analyzed the graphs in detail, but they don't seem to have more primes than expected. There are, however, a large number of "0's"... which is exactly what you would expect from an organization that is imploding.

I'm super-grateful to Lauren Smiley to grant us all the lulz to sit back and laugh as Jeff Quiros makes a total ass of himself.

I find those graphs to be entirely plausible, if only because they're all very consistent with each other.  Making up numbers is easy, but making them up in such a way that dozens of different weeks all balance when scrutinized individually?  That would take a ton of work.

They're also consistent with observation.  Watch the org entrance, look in their windows.  It's pretty empty.  Jeff Q's denials ring as hollow as all the claims of there being 10 million Scientologists.

I can help you verify if ethicstrouble is genuinely a disheartened staff member.  As a person that did my first scientology course at the SF Org. decades ago, I resigned in writing to the Advanced Organization in 2010.  I did know a few current staff members by name and their posts.  Ask ethicstrouble, what are the names of the mother and daughter, currently on staff at the SFO (San Francisco Organization) form the Santa Rosa mission?  Who is Jerry and what is his case level and post?  What blond auditor drives a BMW, that trained at Flag for at least 3 years, got all three L's and audits in the HGC (Hubbard Guidance Center) that also originally started at the Santa Rosa mission?  Let's see his answers.

jerry  is an OT 8  who was married to another OT 8 who with another couple of OT 8s switched wives.   Anyways all these are at the top of the bridge and are doing so horrible its  really an indicator something is very wrong!

I would not encourage this source to verify anything you asked because you are involving other people that do not have a dog in this fight. If Lauren wants to confirm the guy's credibility with your questions, she can do so privately.

Yes she can, as a matter of fact, she can call me.  Following links, my number is relatively easy to find BUT each staff member in every single Scientology organization is there because they originally wanted to be there and are part of the MACHINE that is currently committing egregious HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATIONS.  I have had many friends that are/were were on staff. They work for little or no money. The senior purpose is to save mankind with the enlightenment of LRH.  Is there good, does it work?  Some of it works incredibly well. Some of it is worthless.  My personal disagreemets revolve around an issue, namely KSW(Keeping Scientology Working) and the creation of the Sea Org and the Rehabilitation Project Force.  SO, RPF.

I have read detailed biography's of ex-Sea Org members that were physically restrained from leaving. As mentioned, I was a public member of this church for 42 years.  I was told not to look, read the newspapers, the internet, etc.  I did just that, until I came to the conclusion that the one source that I had looked to for the past 40 years for enlightenment  and guidance was NOW the main source of oppression/suppression in my life.  Every staff member, originally joined because they wanted to help. If they changed their minds or COMPROMISE and go along with something that is not right, well...that is what they are doing.Within the Corporate Church of Scientology there is the Office of Special Affairs (OSA).  They have "pretenders" all over the internet, posting full time on blogs, harassing people in person, hiring  private detictives, etc.If you need more info, all the links can be found on Tony Ortega's blog at the Village Voice.  http://blogs.villagevoice.com/...     Another great source of information is written by and Ex-SO executive that left the Church over 5 years ago. http://markrathbun.wordpress.c...

Sure!  All Penny has to do is email the answers to those questions to Lauren Smiley, and then ethicstrouble can do the same.  Only Lauren needs to know the actual answers.
