Chrissy Lee Polis Update: Teonna Monae Brown Gets Prison Time for Beating of Transgender Woman

SF Weekly readers might remember the horrific beating of a transgender woman inside a Maryland McDonald's in April that drew national attention. The suspect, 19-year-old Teonna Monae Brown, was arrested shortly after the beating was recorded. Brown, who plead guilty to first degree assault and a hate crime, was sentenced to five years in prison yesterday, according to new outlets.

Brown shed some tears of her own in court, apologizing to 22-year-old Chrissy Lee Polis, who was pulled from a bathroom, dragged by her hair, and severely beaten while McDonald's employees stood by -- one of whom videoed the incident.

"I'm sorry. My mother did not raise me like this. I would really like to apologize to the victim, Miss Chrissy Polis," Brown said in court.

Video of the attack went viral, and people across the nation signed onto a petition with San Francisco-based Change.org, demanding McDonald's fire the employees who did not help Polis, but instead egged on the attackers.

Polis did not appear in court when Brown was sentenced, but instead issued the following letter:

I felt like I was going to die that day. I continue to suffer seizures, bouts of crying, mental anguish and anxiety. I fear being alone. I have flashbacks about the attacks. I do not forgive them for what they did to me.

I don't condone the beating, but MR Polis should be facing some charges himself, for being in s ladies restroom with a14 year old girl. If I were to dress as a woman and do the same, I would find myself in prison, my name on a registry and my face on every sex offender website in the country. I have daughters, and if a man went into a restroom with one of them, I don't care what he is trying to be, I would be facing assault charges myself. A lack of action by activities is opening the door to a world we don't wanna see

Of course you would be facing chargers for going into ladies bathroom, you have 100% testosterone in your body(and by the comments prob very creepy and uneducated) Ms Polis has 90% estrogen in her body because she takes hormones. Every single female body builder has more then 10% testosterone in there body lol, so according to you all of them should be locked up for going into the girls bathroom?? Ms Polis also has gone through painful surgeries to permanently remove body hair(including face) the only man thing about her is her penis, and she may have had that removed. I dont know if she has and im sure you dont either. She is Transexual, lives and is a women 24/7. Now if she was a crossdresser(usually a feminine guy who dresses as a girl sometimes and takes no hormones) then i would agree in public places outside of gay clubs HE would have to use mens room.

Your ignorance is amazing. If you bothered to read the facts of the case, you would realize that Chrissy Polis was not in the restroom with a 14 year old girl. It was empty and she went in alone, and the 14 year old girl in question was actually her second attacker. They beat her within inches of her life for no other reason than that she's transgendered. The older girl deserves more many more years in prison than she received. law biding citizens should receive more permanent protection from monsters like her.
