| The nude mastermind. |
We've heard about the
Nude-In planned for this Saturday, when people will publicly disrobe at the parklet on the corner of Castro and Market. Woo-hoo!
But the plan doesn't end there. Now the nudists have come up with a new public relations maneuver to counteract the bad press stemming from Supervisor Scott Wiener's proposed law to make them put down a towel before they take a seat.
They've been discussing throwing a Castro Street trash clean-up in the buff. See, they're not un-sanitary at all! They basically are a new wing of the Department of Public Works.
Staunch Castro nudist
Rusty Mills floated the idea on a local listserv for nudists:
"We would get a small group of naked guys with brooms and related tools and spend an hour or so cleaning up litter at the Buff Stop and along Castro Street. And we would let some reporters know about it in advance so as to get some positive publicity.
Well, it seems to me that there would be no better time for it than Saturday after the Nude-In. The recent negative publicity over Castro nudism begs for an effective response. What better response than to be seen as agents for cleanliness on streets made dirty by non-nudists?"
So far, he's been getting nothing but positive feedback from his colleagues:
A brilliant notion. I'm always in favor of CLEAN neighborhoods so this is a double-plus idea!
I can see it now..."here comes the nude litter cleaners."
A site to behold, indeed. Picking up trash requires a lot of bending over, so we may be seeing the nudists like we've never seen them before, folks. Be prepared.
